Feasibility study on chitin nanofibrils solution as an endoscopic submucosal injection
Objective To investigate the feasibility of using chitin nanofibrils(ChitinNFs)solution as a submucosal injection. Methods 0.1%ChitinNFs solution,0.2%ChitinNFs solution and normal saline were injected into the submucosa of the isolated pig stomach, which were recorded as 0.1%ChitinNFs group,0.2%ChitinNFs group and control group, respectively. The mucosal protru-sion height was measured outside the mucosa using a grid at different time points after injection.Apply a small ultrasound probe to col-lect submucosal images at various time points after injection.Collect mucosal samples for HE staining 60 minutes after injection. Results Extramucosal measurement and submucous examination of ultrasound image showed that the elevation height of submucous injection in 0.1%ChitinNFs group and 0.2%ChitinNFs group was significantly higher than that in control group at each time point, with statistical significance(P<0.05).HE staining showed that mucosa and muscle propria in 0.1%ChitinNFs group and 0.2%ChitinNFs group were obviously separated, and injection pad was visible. Conclusion ChitinNFs solution has clear feasibility as an endoscopic submucosal injection.
