Analysis of influencing factors on delayed discharge of elderly patients with colon cancer after surgery
Objective To explore the influencing factors of hospitalization days for elderly patients after colorectal cancer surgery. Methods A total of 106 elderly patients who underwent intestinal cancer surgery in The Eighth Affiliated Hospital,Sun Yat-sen Uni-versity from January 2022 to August 2024 were selected as the study objects.According to the length of hospital stay, the patients were divided into rapid discharge group(discharge within 7 days after surgery,n=36)and delayed discharge group(discharged more than 12 days after surgery,n=70).The general data, intraoperative data and postoperative hospital stay were compared between the two groups.Univariate and multivariate Logistic regression analysis was used to explore the influencing factors of delayed discharge and rapid discharge. Results The preoperative white blood cells, preoperative blood glucose, preoperative aspartate aminotransferase lev-els,operative time, incidence of diabetes and incidence of coronary heart disease in the delayed discharge group were higher than those in the rapid discharge group, and the preoperative hemoglobin level was lower than those in the rapid discharge group, with statistical significance(P<0.05).The results of multivariate Logistic regression analysis showed that preoperative hemoglobin level and opera-tion time were independent influencing factors for rapid discharge of patients(P<0.05).Operation time, preoperative hemoglobin level and coronary heart disease were the independent influencing factors for delayed discharge(P<0.05).Conclusion Maintaining high preoperative hemoglobin levels and shortening surgical time in elderly patients can facilitate rapid discharge after colorectal cancer sur-gery.Elderly patients with coronary heart disease before surgery are more prone to delayed discharge as the surgery time prolongs.
