Based on panel data of cities from 2012 to 2020,this paper evaluates the high-quality development level of urban economy from dimensions of urban economic development,ecological friendliness and social achievements,and analyzes the impacts of innovative city construction on high-quality economic development using a difference-in-differences model.The research finds that the high-quality development level of each city is on the rise,and the high-quality development level of innovative cities is significantly higher than that of non innovative cities,which shows that the construction of national innovative cities has a significant promoting effect on high-quality economic development.It is recommended that innovative cities be continuously developed through optimized industrial structure,well-played urban population effect,deepened opening up and talent gathering to achieve innovation driven high-quality development.
