Several Misconceptions and Clarifications about Population Ageing and the Ageing Society
Six misconceptions about population ageing and ageing society are listed as follows.First,population ageing is the trend of an increasing number of older people.Second,it is mainly a statistical problem.Third,it is mainly a problem of older adults,and the key to dealing with it is to solve various problems of the elderly group.Fourth,the key to coping with population ageing lies in solving problems of older people and children;Fifth,promoting healthy eldercare is crucial for tackling population ageing.Sixth,population ageing is a drag for economic growth.Through analyzing and clarifying reasons and consequences of these misconceptions,this paper aims to promote the construction of a theory and discourse system on ageing science with Chinese characteristics,and provide theoretical and intellectual support for comprehensively creating a new situation for ageing-related work,developing the ageing-related undertakings and the industry,and promoting the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation in the context of an ageing society.
