The Social Basis of Mutual-Aid Elderly Care from the Perspective of the Social Systems Theory:Field Research on Community F
Community F has created various forms of mutual-aid elderly care, including neighborly mutual assistance points and pair help. From the perspective of social systems theory,it can be found that the practice of mutual-aid eldercare is closely related to the social foundation of a village. The development of collective economy and the increase of villagers'income provide an economic foundation for mutual-aid eldercare in the community. The top-down hierarchical administrative system of local governments at all levels, the responsibility of village committees for handling the public services of the village, and the prestige of village cadres among villagers are the indispensable political foundation for mutual-aid senior care. The tradition of mutual assistance formed over a long period of time in production and life provides a cultural basis. The relatively stable social interaction in the community, good relationship and interpersonal trust based on familiarity together constitute the social psychological basis for this kind of eldercare model.
