Does Digital Device Use Enhance Older Adults'Intention of Community Engagement?The Mediating Role of Emotional States
Using microdata from China Longitudinal Aging Social Survey(CLASS)in 2018,with the goal of enhancing older adults'intention of community engagement and improving their sense of self-identity,this paper conducted a descriptive statistical analysis of the basic situation of older adults'use of digital devices as well as their community engagement,and then analyzed whether use of digital devices and the frequency of use have an impact on their community engagement by using the logit and probit models.The results show that the degree of community engagement of older people is significantly improved by their use of digital devices,and their emotional state has a significant mediating role between their digital devices use and community engagement.Through this research,we attempt to provide a new perspective on how to utilize digital technology as an innovative means of governance to create a harmonious and vibrant community environment in China,so as to enhance the degree of community engagement of older persons and improve their well-being.
