Analysis of Post-weld Heat Treatment Requirements for Carbon Steel Pipes
Carbon steel is a type of steel with good weldability. If appropriate welding consumables and procedures are selected, the welding joints are not prone to hardened structures or cold cracks. The welding and preheating requirements,post-weld heat treatment requirements, and conditions for ex-emption from post-weld heat treatment of carbon steel pipes are analyzed. It is concluded that in order to avoid corrosion cracking under stress corrosion conditions, carbon steel pipes within the full wall thickness range should be heat treated after welding.
