The ecological risk assessment of urban agglomeration reveals the harmful impact of urbanization development on the ecological environment, which is of great significance for carrying out regional ecological civilization construction and ensuring ecosystem stability. In order to grasp the ecological security concept of new urbanization, the ecological risk assessment system was constructed from three dimensions:natural landscape pattern, carbon emission status and economic and social development situation, taking Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Yulin urban agglomeration in the western arid region as the research area, and analyzing the ecological risk size and spatial distribution characteristics from a multi-dimensional perspective. The results showed that:The landscape ecological risk of Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Yulin urban agglomeration were mainly medium and low risk areas; The overall carbon emissions ecological risk in the study area showed a trend of high in the east and low in the west, the area of high and higher ecological risk areas were highly consistent with the spatial distribution of construction land in the research area. The economic and social ecological risk intensity values of Hohhot-Baotou-Ordos-Yulin urban agglomeration were 0.489 3 and 0.519 1 respectively.Specifically, the economic ecological risk intensity values of each city are:Hohhot>Ordos>Baotou>Yulin; The social ecological risk intensity values are:Ordos>Hohhot>Baotou>Yulin.
