This article took the water quality and sediment of the mainstream of Qingyi River(Xuancheng section)as research object, the water quality of the Jingnan cross-section was detected mainly including permanganate index, ammonia nitrogen, total ammonia, and total phosphorus since the 14th Five-Year Plan, and the spatial distribution characteristics in different seasons at 8 monitoring sections on the mainstream were analyzed. The fundamental states of 8 sediment monitoring samples on the mainstream was summarized, and the spatial distribution of organic matter, nitrogen and phosphorus content in surface sediment were compared and comprehensively evaluated. The results showed that the water quality of the cross-section was generally stable in recent years, maintaining at Class Ⅱ,but there were significant fluctuations in water quality in different months. The main components of sediment on the mainstream were stones and sands with dense texture. The content of organic matter, total nitrogen and total phosphorus increased from upstream to downstream. It was found that the stability of water quality was easily affected by industrial sewage, livestock and poultry breeding, river sewage outlets, and sludge deposition. It is necessary to strengthen the investigation of sewage outlets, improve the governance engineering system, promote agricultural pollution prevention, strengthen risk source control, improve early warning system and regular evaluation.
