Due to the high content of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons(PAHs)in aged crude oil in oily sludge,as well as the environmental persistence and human toxicity of PAHs,the current industry standards in China for petroleum hydrocarbons related to land use of oily sludge may not meet the increasingly strict requirements for solid waste environmental management. This article systematically reviews the above mentioned limits for petroleum hydrocarbons in current industry, local, and group standards in China, and summarizes the reasons why the≤2%limit needs further improvement. Finally, specific improvement methods are proposed for reference by relevant scientific and technological personnel.
