Preparation and Tribological Properties of Sulfide Layer on 37CrMnMo Steel
The solid powder method was used to prepare sulfide layer on 37CrMnMo tool joint thread steel. The friction and wear properties of the sulfide layer were investigated on sliding friction tester in dry friction condition. The phase composition, microstructure, thickness and worn surface morphologies were characterized with X-ray diffraction(XRD),scanning electron microscopy(SEM)and metallographic microscope. The results show that using NH4Cl and K4Fe(CN)6 as the accelerator can obtain the sulfide layers, whose thickness is more than 50 μm.The K4Fe(CN)6 has greater activity and significant permeation promoting effect, with sulfide layer thickness up to 100 μm.The sulfide layer is mainly composed of FeS,with a small amount of FeS2,Fe1-xS and CrS,and the microstructure is particles+porous. In sliding friction conditions, the wear scars of the sulfurized samples are light and wide, and the friction coefficient is lower than that of the non-sulfurized sample, which is mainly attributed to the excellent friction reducing property of the sulfurized layer.
