Development of Catalyst for 1,4-Butynediol Production by Three-dimensional Process
In the three-dimensional 1,4-butanediol(BDO)production process, magnesium silicate supported copper-bismuth oxide catalyst is used. There are some problems in the use process, such as easy pulverization of catalyst, fine particle size of reactant catalyst and poor filterability. In this paper, the magnesium silicate supported copper-bismuth catalyst was developed with improved magnesium silicate as the support. The eggshell magnesium silicate supported Cu-bismuth catalyst was prepared with multiple impregnation process, and the activity and selectivity of the catalyst reached the demand of industrial application through the evaluation of kilogram catalyst. The activity and selectivity of the catalyst were similar to the performance of the current copper-bismuth catalyst, and the wear resistance of the particle size was significantly improved.Under the same evaluation conditions, the particle size of the catalyst developed in this project was more than double that of the existing industrial catalyst. The filter performance was significantly improved. In the pilot test, the catalyst was continuously used for more than 100 d,and no clogging phenomenon was found in the filter. The test results show the catalyst can completely replace the current industrial catalyst in the three-dimensional BDO process, and improve the operating efficiency of the device.
