Development and Evaluation of a Polymer Crosslinked Plugging Agent
In order to solve the problem of low success rate of plugging because the leakage stoppage material is diluted by fluid in the well for lost circulation loss of fracture type or fracture cavity type, using acrylamide(AM),2-acrylamido-2-methylpropane sulfonic acid(AMPS)monomer as raw materials,span80 as emulsifier, potassium persulfate/sodium bisulfite(KPS/SHS)as redox initiator, polymer lotion was prepared by lotion polymerization method;Adding 4%~8%Tween80 as phase inversion agent and 1%~3%chromium trichloride as cross-linking agent into the polymer lotion prepared polymer cross-linking plugging agent that can crosslink and thicken in water and quickly form high strength elastomer. The experimental evaluation showed that the polymer crosslinked plugging agent could be pumped to the bottom of the well on the ground, and the ability of crosslinking and thickening the well when encountering water at the bottom of the well was strong; The crosslinking and thickening time of the plugging agent was controllable, with the shortest thickening time reaching 4~5 s and the shortest crosslinking time reaching 60 min;The crosslinking thickening time of plugging agents was less affected by factors such as bottom hole temperature, mineralization degree of drilling fluid formation water, circulating drilling cuttings, and content of bentonite slurry. The high strength elastic body formed could provide strong support capacity for other plugging materials such as cement,to reduce the influence of fluid on the thickening performance of cement, and improve the success rate of plugging fracture or fracture cavity type lost circulation during drilling and completion.
