With the improvement of people's living standards,the use of pharmaceuticals and personal care products(PPCPs)is increasing.The removal of PPCPs in conventional water treatment processes is ineffective,resulting in their frequent detection in water bodies and potential risks to the ecological environment and human health.Therefore,there is an urgent need for more advanced water treatment technologies for the effective removal of PPCPs.In this paper,the characteristics of water containing PPCPs were described,the advantages and disadvantages of conventional water treatment methods were reviewed,the latest developments and research progress of advanced oxidation for the removal of PPCPs from water were introduced,the problems of advanced oxidation for the degradation of PPCPs were summarized,and an outlook on the future development was put forward.
