A comparative study on anther development of Astragalus membranaceus and A.membranaceus var.mongholicus
Based on cytological observation on the microspore development of Astragalus membranaceus and A.membranaceus var.mongholicus by traditional paraffin section technology, the research was carried out on the correlation between different developmental stages of microspores and bud sizes. The research results shown that pollen mother cells of A.membranaceus and A.membranaceus var.mongholicus were in cyclic permutation;all the tetrads of microspores were tetrahedron-shaped;meiosis and cytokinesis were simultaneous;tapeta were of secretor type;pollen grains were two-celled,and there were three protuberances on the pollen exine. In conclusion, there is a close correlation between different developmental stages of microspores and bud sizes.
