A Preliminary study on the effect of 60Co-γ radiation on the growth of 1-year-old Larix olgensis seedlings
Larch is an important fast-growing tree species in northern China. In order to meet the demand for better varieties of larch in production, mixed seeds of Larix olgensis were irradiated with different 60Co-γ radiation doses, and seeds of different families of Larix olgensis were irradiated with the same 60Co-γ radiation dose(20 Gy).Seedling emergence rate was counted, growth indicators such as seedling height, ground diameter and lateral branch number were measured, and the effects of 60Co-γ radiation dose on the growth of larch seedlings were analyzed to establish a rapid method for obtaining improved larch seed. The results showed that the height, diameter, number of lateral branches, and emergence rate of 1-year-old Larix olgensis seedlings were 15.68~22.39 cm,0.28~0.42 cm,1.03~4.01,and 7.7%~37.52%,respectively,and these numbers decreased with the increasing radiation dose. The seedling height, ground diameter, number of lateral branches and seedling emergence rate of 20 Gy and 30 Gy treatment were close to the control. The results of 60Co-γ radiation on different families showed that there were some differences in seedling height, ground diameter, number of lateral branches and emergence rate among different families after 60Co-γ radiation. These differences were due to the growth characteristics of the families and the 60Co-γ radiation. The study provided technical support for the subsequent cultivation of larch using 60Co-γ radiation.
