Identification and Analysis of the Resistance of Different Chili Pepper Varieties to Bacterial Spot Disease
In recent years, there has been a significant increase in the incidence of bacterial spot disease in chili pepper within large-scale seedling enterprises in Liaoning province. In this study,30 main chili pepper varieties grown in Liaoning province were assessed for indoor disease resistance through artificial inoculation at the 8th true leaf stage in order to increase yield and quality of chili pepper varieties. The results showed that Shenhe 8819 and Korean Red Peak were classified as resistant varieties(R)with disease indexes of 13.92 and 14.42,respectively.Conversely,Wanjin Early Pepper and New Line Pepper Jade were classified as mod-erately resistant varieties(MR)with disease indexes of 17.17 and 15.25,respectively.All four types being studied are classified as linear peppers. The remaining three sweet peppers, three rambutan peppers, nine cow peppers, four jalapenos, and seven screw peppers were classified as susceptible varieties(S)with disease in-dexes ranging from 30.1 to 40.0.These findings could provide a scientific basis for the preferential selection of disease-resistant varieties and variety promotion for chili pepper production in Liaoning province.
