This study utilizes video observation,mathematical statistics,literature review,network a-nalysis,and logical analysis to analyze the ball passing and receiving data of 13 matches in the 4-2-3-1 formation used by France and Croatia in the 21st World Cup.It discusses the key position for con-necting the team in the 4-2-3-1 formation from two aspects:formation characteristics and tactical style.The results show that:①The two teams with different tactical styles have the same key posi-tion in the formation of 4-2-3-1 formation.②The offensive and defensive characteristics of the 4-2-3-1 formation make the position of the back waist the pivot of offensive and defensive transformation.③In the pass control system,the back waist position in the 4-2-3-1 formation has more pass routes.
