Upper respiratory tract infection in dogs is mainly caused by non-canine distemper,and the main symptoms include cough and runny nose.Puppies are more susceptible to infection due to hypoplasia and immature immune system.In clinic,pet doctors need to make diagnosis through medical history investigation,hematological examination and etiological examination,and mostly adopt symptomatic treatment,antibacterial and antiviral treatment and other western medicine treatment schemes.However,long-term use of antibiotics and antiviral drugs may lead to drug resistance and toxic side effects.The use of Chinese herbal medicine in the treatment of upper respiratory tract infection in dogs has the advantages of multi-component,multi-target and multi-pathway,and has broad development prospects.This article combs the diagnosis of upper respiratory tract infection in dogs and the conventional Western medicine treatment scheme,and summarizes the clinical research on the treatment of upper respiratory tract infection in dogs with traditional Chinese medicine therapy,in order to provide a reference for the application of traditional Chinese medicine therapy in pet diagnosis and treatment.
