Effect of vitamin E on reproductive performance of male livestock and poultry and its candidate genes
Vitamin E can promote testicular development and spermatogenesis of livestock and poultry. At present, most related studies of vitamin E tend to explore its effects on reproductive performance from the perspective of antioxidant, but some studies have found potential non-antioxidant functions of vitamin E.In order to further reveal the mechanism of vitamin E regulating animal reproductive performance, this paper reviewed the effects of vitamin E on reproductive performance of male domestic animals, and summarized the candidate genes related to cell proliferation, apoptosis, spermatogenesis and hormone receptor, which mediated vitamin E to promote testicular development and spermatogenesis,in order to provide a reference for the application of vitamin E in livestock and poultry reproduction.
