Research progress of RNA-based detection of viable pathogens in livestock and poultry
Pathogenic bacteria pose a great threat to human health and the development of animal husbandry. Therefore, rapid and accurate detection of live pathogenic bacteria with infectious ability has important public health significance.Studies have shown that RNA molecules are highly correlated with the metabolic activity of cells, and will degrade rapidly after the death of bacteria,so RNA has the application value as a molecular marker of living bacteria. In this paper, the RNA molecules that have been used to detect live bacteria of common livestock and poultry pathogens are classified and summarized, and the advantages, disadvantages and challenges of current related methods are discussed. Finally, the future development direction of RNA-based live bacteria detection methods is prospected. It is expected that more new targets will be discovered and more emerging technologies will be developed in the future, which will provide more powerful tools for scientific prevention and control of livestock and poultry pathogenic bacteria infection and clinical diagnosis of related infectious diseases.
