Effects of different feeding methods on growth performance and health status of weaned piglets
The experiment aimed to investigate the impact of two different feeding methods, liquid and solid,on the growth performance and health status of weaned piglets.A total of 360 healthy and weight-uniform'Duroc×Landrace×Yorkshire'triple-cross weanling pigs were randomly divided into a control group and an experimental group, with five replicates per group and 36 pigs per replicate. The control group was fed solid feed, while the experimental group was fed liquid feed with a water-to-feed ratio of 2.5∶1.The trial lasted for 40 days. The results showed that the average daily weight gain of weaned piglets in the experimental group increased by 17.82%compared to the control group(P<0.05),and the average daily feed intake increased by 13.11%(P>0.05),the survival rate improved by 1.41%,and the diarrhea rate decreased by 30.51%.On the 7th day of the trial, the diarrhea rate of weaned piglets in the experimental group was reduced by 16.64%compared to the control group. As the breeding age increased, the diarrhea rates of both groups showed different trends and gradually decreased,on the 40th day of the trial, the diarrhea rates of weaned piglets in the experimental and control groups were 0.46%and 1.16%,respectively.The different feeding methods had no significant effect on the coat condition and skin color of weaned piglets(P>0.05),but there was a certain trend of improvement. The study indicates that liquid feeding has a certain improving effect on the growth performance and health status of weaned piglets.
