The experiment aimed to explore the effects of different levels of Lonicera hypoglauca extract on the egg production performance and egg quality of Hy-Line Brown laying hens.A total of 4 000 healthy 60-week-old Hy-Line Brown laying hens were randomly divided into four groups,with 10 replicates per group,each consisting of 100 Hy-Line Brown laying hens.The control group was fed a basal diet,while the group 1,group 2,and group 3 were fed the basal diet supplemented with 0.25,0.50,1.00 g/kg of Lonicera hypoglauca extract,respectively.The preliminary trial lasted for one week,followed by an 8-week formal experimental period.The results showed that compared to the control group,the addition of 0.50,1.00 g/kg Lonicera hypoglauca extract in the diet significantly increased the average daily egg weight,egg production rate,and average egg weight of Hy-Line Brown laying hens(P<0.05),and significantly reduced the feed-to-egg ratio(P<0.05).Compared to the control group,the addition of 0.50,1.00 g/kg Lonicera hypoglauca extract in the diet significantly improved eggshell strength,Haugh units,and the relative weight of the yolk(P<0.05).Compared to the control group,the addition of 0.50,1.00 g/kg Lonicera hypoglauca extract in the diet significantly reduced the cholesterol content in the yolk(P<0.05).The study indicates that the addition of an appropriate amount of Lonicera hypoglauca extract to the diet of Hy-Line Brown laying hens can improve laying performance and egg quality,and the optimal level of Lonicera hypoglauca extract addition is 0.5 g/kg.
