Epidemiological investigation of feline infectious peritonitis in Hohhot
The study aimed to understand the prevalence of feline infectious peritonitis(FIP)in Hohhot,Inner Mongolia. It conducted a survey and analysis of 103 confirmed FIP cases admitted to a pet hospital in Hohhot from March 2021 to February 2024.The results indicated that the incidence of FIP in Hohhot showed an upward trend from March 2021 to February 2024,but there was no significant correlation with the season of onset. The British Shorthair and Ragdoll breeds were more frequently affected, accounting for 66.99%(69/103)in total, with the British Shorthair having an incidence rate of 46.60%(48/103)and the Ragdoll 20.39%(21/103).The incidence rate in male cats(63.11%,65/103)was significantly higher than in female cats(36.89%,38/103).The highest incidence rate was observed in cats aged one year or younger, reaching 45.63%(47/103).The research suggests that the occurrence of FIP in Hohhot is related to the cat's breed, gender, and age. However, due to the incomplete nature of the case investigation, many factors were not included in the statistics.Subsequent research should undertake a more comprehensive and systematic epidemiological study to explore the influencing factors of FIP incidence.
