Advances in drug development for canine atopic dermatitis
Canine atopic dermatitis is one of the common allergic skin diseases in dogs,characterized mainly by inflammation,itching,skin damage,and infection.Clinical treatment primarily relies on medication,but there is still a limited selection of drugs available.To provide a comprehensive understanding of the research progress in drug treatment for canine atopic dermatitis,this article analyzes the pathogenesis and related risk factors of the disease and systematically reviews the commonly used therapeutic drugs,including corticosteroids,antihistamines,calcineurin inhibitors,essential fatty acids,Janus kinase(JAK)inhibitors,canine interferons,and canine interleukin-31(IL-31)antibodies.By summarizing the characteristics,pathogenic factors,and clinical medication advances of canine atopic dermatitis,the article points out the limitations and deficiencies of these drugs,aiming to provide new directions for drug development and find more effective and safe treatment methods.
