Effects of compound Chinese herbal preparations on production performance of sow and growth performance,immune function and health level of suckling piglets
This experiment was conducted to investigate the effects of compound Chinese herbal preparations on the performance of sows and the growth performance,immune function and health level of suckling piglets.Thirty sows with the same first parity and close perinatation were randomly divided into two groups with three replicates per group and five sows per replicate.The control group was fed the basic diet,and the experimental group was fed the basic diet with 1%compound Chinese herbal preparations.The feeding period lasted for 42 days,from 14 days before delivery to 28 days after delivery.Sows and weaned piglets were followed up to 60 days of age in piglets.The results showed that the weaning survival rate of piglets in the experimental group was 99.33%,which was increased by 4.89%compared with the control group(P<0.05).The average estrus interval of sows in the experimental group was 5.5 days,which was shortened by 30.38%compared with the control group(P<0.05).The incidence of mastitis in the experimental group was 5.7%,which was 44.66%lower than that in the control group(P<0.05).The body weight of piglets at 28 days of age and average daily gain from 1 to 28 days of age in the experimental group were 16.14%and 20.00%higher than those in the control group(P<0.05),and the diarrhea rate of piglets in the experimental group was decreased by 60.83%(P<0.05).Compared with the control group,the body weight at 60 days of age and the average daily gain at 29 to 60 days of age of piglets in the experimental group were 18.49%and 19.23%higher(P<0.05),and the diarrhea rate and the frequency of other diseases were reduced by 51.04%and 64.66%(P<0.05),respectively.Compared with the control group,the serum contents of immunoglobulin G(IgG),immunoglobulin M(IgM)and immunoglobulin A(IgA)of piglets in the experimental groups were increased by 29.06%,26.54%,and 21.05%,respectively(P<0.05).The contents of interleukin-2(IL-2)and interleukin-6(IL-6)were increased by 13.63%and 26.46%(P<0.05),and the activities of total superoxide dismutase(T-SOD)and glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px)were increased by 6.48%and 1.41%(P<0.05).The content of malondialdehyde(MDA)was decreased by 28.52%(P<0.05).The study indicates that the compound Chinese herbal preparations can obviously improve the production performance and health status of sows,and improve the growth performance,immune function and health level of piglets.
