Mesh meta-analysis of different exercise interventions to improve balance function in frail elderly
Objective To evaluate the effect of different exercise interventions to improve balance function in frail older adults. Methods A systematic search of PubMed,Embase,Web of Science,The Cochrane Library,China Bio-medical Literature Database,CNKI,WanFang Database,VIP Database were carried out to identify randomized control tri-als on the effect of exercise training on balance function in frail older adults from inception to September 2023.Literature screening, data extraction, quality evaluation were conducted independently by two researchers.Berg Balance Scale(BBS),Simplified Physical Status Scale(SPPB),"Standing Walking"Timed Test(TUG)and 6-minute Walking Test(6MWT)Data was analyzed by Stata 14.0 software. Results A total of 15 pieces of randomized controlled trials were in-cluded.The results of network meta-analysis indicated that the core exercise effect was the best in improving the BBS score, the resistance exercise was the best in the SPPB score, the core exercise was the best in the TUG time, and the bal-ance training was the best in the 6MWT distance. Conclusion The nine exercise methods can improve the balance func-tion of the frail elderly, among which core exercise, resistance exercise,multi-sport and balance training have the best ef-fect.
