Analysis of the status quo and influencing factors of self-perceived burden in elderly patients with diabetes
Objective To investigate the self-perceived burden of elderly patients with diabetes and analyze its influ-encing factors. Methods From January 2023 to June 2023,134 elderly patients with diabetes were selected by conve-nient sampling from two tertiary hospitals in Shandong Province.A total of 134 elderly patients with diabetes were investi-gated by the general information questionnaire, the Self-Perceived Burden Scale(SPBS)and the Scale of Social Support(SSRS).T-test,one-way anova and multiple linear stepwise regression were used to analyze the influencing factors of self-perceived burden in elderly patients with diabetes. Results The elderly patients with diabetes had a score of 25.34±10.59 for self-perceived burden,4.95±2.13 for physical burden,5.29±2.40 for economic burden, and 15.10±6.68 for emotional burden. There were 39 cases(29.10%)without obvious self-perceived burden,49 cases(36.57%)with mild self-perceived burden,33 cases(24.63%)with moderate self-perceived burden, and 13 cases(9.70%)with severe self-perceived burden. The results of multiple linear stepwise regression analysis showed that monthly income, course of disease, health status of main caregivers and social support were the influencing factors of self-perceived burden of elderly diabetes patient(adjusted R2=0.444,F=22.200,P<0.001).Conclusion The self-perceived burden of elder-ly diabetes patients is at a moderate level, which suggests that medical staff should pay attention to elderly diabetes pa-tients with high economic pressure, long course of disease and poor health status of caregivers, develop targeted and effec-tive intervention programs for them, improve the level of self-perceived burden of patients, and then reduce the impact of psychological factors on the disease.
