Research progress on the relationship between myoglobin and insulin resistance in diabetes mellitus
The prevalence of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus(T2DM)is steadily increasing worldwide.Insulin resistance and pancreatic β-cell dysfunction are the primary pathophysiological factors contributing to the development of T2DM.Skeletal muscle,a key target tissue for insulin resistance, plays a significant role in the secretion of various myokines in-volved in physiological processes.Myonectin, one such myokine, has been identified to participate in the regulation of glu-cose and lipid metabolism through adipose tissue, thereby closely associated with insulin resistance in T2DM.This review aims to provide an overview of the relationship between myonectin and insulin resistance in T2DM,and thoroughly explore the intricate relationship between myonectin and the development of insulin resistance and T2DM.
