Research progress on the relationship between type 2 diabetes mellitus and thyroid nodules
In recent years,the incidence of type 2 diabetes mellitus and thyroid nodules has been continuously in-creasing.As the two most common diseases in the endocrine metabolic system,they are closely related.Research has shown that there is a certain correlation between type 2 diabetes mellitus and the risk of thyroid nodules.According to epi-demiological studies,type 2 diabetes mellitus may increase the risk of thyroid nodules and promote their occurrence and development.Evidence suggests that factors linking thyroid nodules and type 2 diabetes mellitus include gender,age,obe-sity,high blood sugar,and insulin resistance.The underlying mechanisms include abnormal thyroid hormone levels,the impact of insulin,inflammation,and the role of adipokines.Additionally,certain ahypoglycemic drugs also have a role in countering thyroid nodules.
