Correlation between quality of life and psychological resilience, social support and self-perceived burden in elderly patients un-dergoing hemodialysis for renal failure
Objective To analyze the relationship between the quality of life and psychological resilience, social sup-port,and self-perceived burden in elderly patients undergoing hemodialysis for renal failure, and provide a theoretical basis for improving the quality of life of these patients. Methods A total of 100 elderly patients with renal failure who underwent hemo-dialysis treatment in People's Hospital of Rugao City from March 2018 to September 2023 were selected as the research sub-jects.Multivariate linear regression was used to identify the factors influencing the quality of life of elderly patients undergoing hemodialysis for renal failure.Pearson correlation analysis was used to analyze the relationship between the quality of life and psychological resilience, social support, and self-perceived burden in these patients. Results The score of the Short Form 36 Health Survey Questionnaire(SF-36)of the100 patients was(70.26±7.29).Multivariate linear regression analysis results showed that psychological resilience, social support, and self-perceived burden were influencing factors of the quality of life of elderly patients undergoing hemodialysis for renal failure(P<0.05).Pearson correlation analysis showed that SF-36 score was positively correlated with the total score of Connor-Davidson Resilience Scale(CD-RISC)and scores of all dimensions in these patients(P<0.05),positively correlated with the total score of Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS)and scores of all dimen-sions(P<0.05),and negatively correlated with the total score of Self-Perceived Burden Scale(SPBS)(P<0.05).Conclusion The quality of life of elderly patients undergoing hemodialysis for renal failure needs to be improved, which can be affected by psychological resilience, social support, and self-perceived burden.Clinical measures can be developed to im-prove their quality of life by improving psychological resilience and social support, and reducing their self-perceived burden.
