Effects of task-oriented combined with stepwise rehabilitation exercise on elderly patients with total hip arthroplasty
Objective To explore the effects of task-oriented combined with stepwise rehabilitation exercise on elderly patients with total hip arthroplasty(THA).Methods A total of 98 elderly patients undergoing THA in First Affiliated Hospi-tal of Nanjing Medical University between January and December 2022 were enrolled.According to different specific rehabilita-tion programs, they were divided into group A(56 cases)and group B(42 cases). The group B received routine THA limb rehabilitation exercise, while the group A received task-oriented combined with stepwise rehabilitation exercise. Both groups re-ceived continuous intervention for 3 months. The first time of getting out of bed, hospitalization time and standing-walking time were compared between the two groups. The scores of Harris scale,Berg Balance Scale(BBS),Fugl-Meyer Motor Function Scale,International Fall Efficacy Scale(FES-I),Hamilton Anxiety Scale(HAMA),Barthel Index and Functional Independ-ence Measure(FIM)before and after intervention,as well as the incidence of complications were compared between the two groups. Results The first time of getting out of bed, hospitalization time, and standing-walking time of the group A were sig-nificantly shorter than those of the group B(P<0.05).Compared with the same group before intervention, the Harris Scale score of both groups showed a significant increase trend from 1 week to 3 months after intervention, and the Harris Scale score of the group A was significantly higher than that of the group B at every time point(P<0.05).After intervention, the scores of BBS,Fugl-Meyer,Barthel Index and FIM of the group A were higher than those of the group B,while the scores of FES-I and HAMA were lower than those of the group B(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in total incidence of compli-cations between group A and group B(7.15%vs 11.90%,P>0.05).Conclusion Task-orientation combined with stepwise rehabilitation exercise can promote recovery of hip function and reduce the risk of postoperative complications in elderly patients with THA,and have certain clinical application value.
