The level and clinical significance of CircDCUN1D4 in peripheral blood of elderly COPD patients
Objective To detect the level of peripheral blood CircDCUN1D4 in patients with chronic obstructive pulmo-nary disease(COPD),and explore its role and clinical significance in COPD.Methods 40 elderly patients with stable COPD who were admitted to Department of Respiratory Medicine,Jinshan Branch of Sixth People's Hospital of Shanghai City from November 1,2022 to April 30,2023 were selected(observation group).Another 40 elderly healthy individuals who underwent physical examinations in Medical Examination Center of the hospital during the same period were selected(control group). The chronic obstructive pulmonary disease assessment(CAT score)and lung function examination were performed on COPD pa-tients,and their FEV1/FVC and FEV1pred%were recorded. The expression levels of CircDCUN1D4 in peripheral blood of the two groups were detected and compared.COPD patients were divided into 60-80 years old subgroup(n=24)and ≥80 years old subgroup(n=16).The differences in CAT score,FEV1pred%and peripheral blood circDCUN1D4 level were analyzed and compared between the two subgroups. Results The expression level of peripheral blood CircDCUN1D4(3.47±1.55)of the observation group was higher than that of the control group(1.15±0.56),with statistically significant(P<0.01).The circDCUN1D4 level and CAT score of the ≥ 80 years old subgroup were higher than those of the 60-80 years old subgroup, and the FEV1pred%was lower than that of the 60-80 years old subgroup. The differences between the two subgroups were statisti-cally significant(P<0.05).Conclusion The changes of peripheral blood circDCUN1D4 level of elderly patients with stable COPD may be related to the onset and progression of COPD.The expression level of peripheral blood circDCUN1D4 may be a potential indicator for the early diagnosis and prognosis evaluation of COPD.
