Clinical observation of mesalazine combined with compound glutamine in the treatment of active mild to moderate ulcerative colitis in elderly patients
Objective To explore the clinical effects of mesalazine combined with compound glutamine in the treatment of elderly patients with mild to moderate ulcerative colitis(UC).Methods A total of 106 elderly patients with mild to moder-ate UC in active stage treated in General Hospital of Eastern Theater Command from May 2020 to May 2023 were selected and divided into observation group and control group according to the random number table method, with 53 cases in each group. The control group was treated with mesalazine, and the observation group was treated with compound glutamine on the basis of the same treatment as the control group. The clinical efficacy and adverse reactions of the two groups were compared. The in-testinal mucosal barrier function index values, oxidative stress index values[glutathione peroxidase(GSH-Px),superoxide dis-mutase(SOD),malondialdehyde(MDA)],inflammatory factor level[interleukin-23(IL-23),IL-17]before and after treat-ment were compared between the two groups. Results After treatment, the total effective rate of the observation group was significantly higher than that of the control group(94.34%vs 81.13%,x2=4.496,P=0.038).The levels of D-lactic acid and diamine oxidase of the two groups were lower than those of the same group before treatment(P<0.05),and the observation group were lower than the control group(P<0.05).The levels of GSH-Px and SOD of the two groups were higher than those of the same group before treatment(P<0.05),and the observation group was higher than the control group(P<0.05).The levels of MDA,IL-23 and IL-17 of the two groups were lower than those of the same group before treatment(P<0.05),and the obser-vation group was lower than the control group(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the incidence of adverse reac-tions between the two groups(13.21%vs 9.43%,P>0.05).Conclusion Compared with single mesalazine treatment,mesala-zine combined with compound glutamine is more effective in the treatment of patients with active mild to moderate UC.
