Evaluation of falling efficacy and investigation of influencing factors in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis
Objective To evaluate the fall efficacy in elderly patients with knee osteoarthritis(KOA),explore its influ-encing factors, and provide the basis for formulating the corresponding measures. Methods The clinical data of 86 elderly pa-tients with KOA admitted to Hospital 986 of Chinese People's Liberation Army Air Force from April 2020 to April 2023 were retrospectively analyzed. The general data questionnaire,Modified Fall Efficacy Scale(MFES),Berg Balance Scale and Visu-al Analogue Scale(VAS)were used to investigate the patients. The influencing factors of fall efficacy were analyzed by multi-ple linear regression model. Results The MFES score of 86 elderly KOA patients was(91.29±18.47)points and the fall ef-ficacy was at a moderate level. In the MFES score, the item score of walking up and down stairs was the lowest[(4.91±2.50)points],and the item score of dressing was the highest rating[(7.85±1.09)points].There were significant differ-ences in MFES scores among elderly KOA patients with different Kellgren-Lawrence grading(K-L grading),osteoporosis, knee pain degree, balance function, fall history in the past six months and walking assistive devices(P<0.05).Multiple line-ar regression model showed that K-L grading, osteoporosis, knee pain degree, balance function, fall history in the past six months and walking assistive devices were all independent influencing factors for fall efficacy in elderly patients with KOA(P<0.05).Conclusion The fall efficacy of elderly KOA patients is at a moderate level, which is closely related to many factors.Clinically, corresponding measures should be formulated to improve patients'fall efficacy.
