Effects of 5S health education checklist management model on health behavior and self-care ability of elderly patients undergo-ing nasal polypectomy
Objective To observe the effects of 5S health education checklist management model on health behavior and self-care ability of elderly patients undergoing nasal polypectomy.Methods 102 elderly patients undergoing nasal polypecto-my in First Affiliated Hospital of Air Force Medical University from February 2022 to February 2024 were selected and divided into routine group(n=51)and 5S group(n=51)according to random number table method.The routine group received rou-tine nursing during perioperative period of nasal polypectomy,while the 5S group implemented intervention measures of 5S health education checklist management model based on the basis of the routine group.The disease uncertainty[Chinese version of Mishel Uncertainty in Illness Scale(MUIS)],health behavior ability[Chinese version of Self-Rated Abilities for Health Practices Scale(SRAHP)],self-care ability[Exercise of Self-care Agency Scale(ESCA)]and quality of life[Chinese ver-sion of Sinonasal Outcome Test-22(SNOT-22)]before and after intervention and the incidence of complications were com-pared between the two groups.Results After intervention,the scores of the uncertainty,complexity,unpredictability and lack of information of MUIS and scores of physiological problem,functional limitations and psychological problem of NOT-22 in both groups were lower than those in the same group before intervention(P＜0.05),and the above scores in the 5S group were lower than those in the routine group(P＜0.05).The scores of nutrition,psychological comfort,exercise,and health respon-sibility of SRAHP and scores of self-concept,self-care responsibility,self-care skills and disease knowledge of ESCA in both groups were higher than those in the same group before intervention(P＜0.05),and the above scores in the 5S group were higher than those in the routine group(P＜0.05).Conclusion The 5S health education checklist management model can alle-viate the disease uncertainty of elderly patients after nasal polypectomy,enhance their health behavior and self-care abilities,improve their quality of life,and reduce the risk of complications.
