Analysis of effects of nostalgia therapy combined with empathy nursing on cognitive level of patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease
Objective To explore the effects of nostalgia therapy combined with empathy(EMP)nursing on cognitive level of patients with mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease(AD),and provide a method for the treatment of the disease.Methods 111 patients with mild to moderate AD admitted to People's Hospital of Jiangsu Province from January 2021 to De-cember 2023 were selected as the study subjects and divided into observation group(n=56)and control group(n=55)by random number table method.The control group received routine basic intervention for AD patients,and the observation group received nostalgic therapy combined with EMP nursing for AD patients on the basis of the same intervention in the control group.The scores of Mini-Mental State Examination(MMSE),Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MOCA),Modified Barthel Index(MBI)and Short Form-36-item Health Survey(SF-36)were compared between the two groups before and after intervention.The scores of the Mini-Mental State Examination Scale(MMSE),Montreal Cognitive Assessment Scale(MO-CA),Modified Barthel Index(MBI),Quality of Life Scale(SF-36)before and after intervention,and the disease improve-ment rate evaluated by Clinician's Interview-Based Impression of Change Plus Caregiver Input(CIBIC plus)after intervention were compared between the two groups.Results After intervention,the scores of MMSE and MOCA in both groups were higher than those in the same group before intervention,and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The MBI scores in both groups were higher than those in the same group before intervention,and the score in the observation group was higher than that in the control group(P＜0.05).The scores of dimensions of the psy-chological function,physical function and social function and total scores of SF-36 in both groups were higher than those in the same group before intervention,and the scores in the observation group were higher than those in the control group(P＜0.05).The improvement rate of disease condition in observation group was higher than that in control group(60.71％vs 36.36％,x2=6.586,P＜0.05).Conclusion The application of nostalgia therapy combined with EMP nursing in the treat-ment of mild to moderate AD patients has a good effect.It can effectively improve patients'mental and behavioral symptoms,improve their cognition,enhance daily living ability,and improve the rate of disease improvement and life quality level.It has certain clinical application value.
