Therapeutic effects of wheat grain moxibustion combined with acupuncture on elderly patients with acute herpes zoster and its effects on serum IL-17,IL-8 and SP
Objective To observe the therapeutic effects of wheat grain moxibustion combined with acupuncture on eld-erly patients with acute herpes zoster and its effects on serum interleukin-17(IL-17),interleukin-8(IL-8)and substance P(SP).Methods 118 elderly patients with acute herpes zoster admitted to Affiliated Hospital of Chengdu University of Tradi-tional Chinese Medicine(TCM)from January 2022 to January 2024 were included in this study.According to random envelope method,they were divided into acupuncture group and combination group,with 59 cases in each group.The acupuncture group received conventional drug treatment plus acupuncture treatment,and the combination group received wheat grain moxibustion on the basis of the acupuncture group.Both groups received continuous treatment for one week.The treatment effective rate,TCM syndrome score,pain degree[Visual Analogue Scale(VAS)],immune function(CD4+,CD8+,CD4+/CD8+),lev-els of serum IL-17,IL-8 and SP,and the incidences of postherpetic neuralgia and adverse reactions were compared between the two groups.Results After treatment,the effective rate of the combination group was higher than that of the acupuncture group(96.61％vs 84.75％,P＜0.05)and the TCM syndrome score was lower than that of the acupuncture group(P＜0.05).There were significant differences in VAS scores in terms of inter-group dimension,time point dimension and interaction dimen-sion(P＜0.05),and VAS scores of the combination group were significantly lower than those of the acupuncture group at dif-ferent time points(P＜0.05).The levels of CD4+and CD4+/CD8+of the combination group were higher than those of the ac-upuncture group,while CD8+was lower than that of the acupuncture group(P＜0.05).The levels of IL-17,IL-8 and SP of the combination group were lower than those of the acupuncture group(P＜0.05).The incidence of postherpetic neuralgia in the combination group was lower than that in the acupuncture group(P＜0.05).There was no significant difference in the in-cidence of adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion The combination of wheat grain moxibustion and acupuncture can effectively improve the clinical curative effect of elderly patients with acute herpes zoster,improve their symptoms,relieve pain,enhance immunity,and reduce inflammatory response and the incidence of postherpetic neuralgia.It has certain clinical application value.
