Analysis of Alveolar Bone Morphology and Periodontal Soft Tissue Changes during Orthodontic-Orthognathic Treatment in Patients with Skeletal Class Ⅲ Malocclusion
Objective To discuss the alveolar bone morphology and periodontal soft tissue changes during orthodontic-orthognathic treatment in patients with skeletal Class Ⅲ malocclusion. Methods Seventy patients with skeletal Class Ⅲmalocclusion in orthodontics department of our hospital from January 2017 to January 2020 were retrospectively analyzed. All patients received orthodontic-orthognathic treatment.Alveolar bone thickness, facial soft tissue asymmetry and aesthetic were measured at the baseline and 1 year after treatment. Results Values of upper posterior alveolar width(UP),upper anterior alveolar width(UA)and upper alveolar height(UA)were decreased in all patients. After treatment, the amount of bilateral lower lip deviation was less than before treatment(P<0.05),and the amount of bilateral upper lip deviation and bilateral mandibular deviation were more than before treatment(P<0.05).Of the 70 patients,11 were very satisfied,36 were satis-fied and 23 were dissatisfied with the aesthetics of the face, giving an overall satisfaction rate of 67.14%.Conclusion Or-thodontic-orthodontic treatment can reconstruct the morphology of the alveolar bone and periodontal soft tissues, improve fa-cial soft tissue asymmetry, and obtain satisfactory facial aesthetics.
