Objective To investigate the effect of levetiracetam combined with sodium valproate on improving bone me-tabolism and reducing EEG spikes in adult patients with epilepsy.Methods The data of 78 adult epilepsy patients admit-ted to the Department of Neurology of Luohe Central Hospital from May 2019 to May 2020 were collected,and their treat-ment was reviewed.The clinical efficacy was compared between group A(n=39 cases)with sodium valproate alone and group B(n=39 cases)with levetiracetam and sodium valproate jointly.Results After two courses of treatment,the total ef-fective rate of group B was 94.87％higher than that of group A(74.36％,P＜0.05);The levels of type Ⅰ collagen N-termi-nal propeptide and 25 hydroxy vitamin D3 in group B were higher than those in group A(P＜0.05);EEG spikes in group B were less than those in group A(P＜0.05);There was no significant difference in adverse reactions between the two groups(P＞0.05).Conclusion The overall effect of levetiracetam combined with sodium valproate is ideal.It is worth using for reference to control the disease progress,improve bone metabolism,reduce EEG spikes,and ensure the drug safety of pa-tients.
