Objective To discuss the correlation of serum miR-26a and miR-26b expression levels with lens opacity in patients with age-related cataract. Methods Seventy patients with age-related cataract in our hospital from February 2020 to February 2023 were enrolled as study group, meantime, another 68 healthy individuals underwent physical examination in our hospital during the same period were set as control group. The reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction(RT-PCR)was used to detect the expression levels of miR-26a and miR-26b in serum. Results The expression levels of serum miR-26a and miR-26b in study group were lower than those in control group(P<0.05).The expression of miR-26a and miR-26b was nega-tively correlated with the scores of nuclear(N),cortical(C),and posterior subcapsular(P)cataract in Lens Opacities Classifi-cation System Ⅱ(LOCS),with statistical significance(P<0.05).The expression levels of serum miR-26a and miR-26b had certain predictive value for lens opacity. Conclusion Serum expression levels of miR-26a and miR-26b are down-regulated in patients with age-related cataract, and the low expression of two indicators are closely related to the lens opacity.
