Effects of Wuling Capsule(乌灵胶囊)on Serum Levels of SP and NPY and Sleep Quality in Insomnia of Heart Blood Deficiency and Kidney Essence Deficiency Type
Objective To investigate the effects of Wuling Capsule(乌灵胶囊)on the serum levels of substance P(SP)and neuropeptide Y(NPY)and sleep quality in insomnia of the heart blood deficiency and kidney essence deficiency type.Methods Eighty patients with insomnia of the heart blood deficiency and kidney essence deficiency type admitted to the hospital were se-lected and randomly divided into two groups,with 40 cases in each group.The control group was treated with conventional western medicine,while the observation group was treated with Wuling Capsule on the basis of the control group for 4 weeks.The clinical treatment effects,serum levels of SP and NPY and sleep quality of the two groups were compared.Results During the treatment,the control group showed significantly lower clinical treatment effect than the observation group.The effective rate of the control group was 70.00％,which was significantly lower compared with that(92.50％)of the observation group(P＜0.05).After the treatment,the SP levels of both groups were significantly lower(P＜0.05),while the SP level of the observation group was signifi-cantly lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).In addition,the Athens Insomnia Scale(AIS),the Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index(PSQI),the Hanover Sleep Quality Index(HQI)and Hamilton Anxiety Rating Scale(HAMA)scores showed a significant decrease in the two groups after treatment(P＜0.05),and the performance of the observation group on these scores was signifi-cantly lower than that of the control group(P＜0.05).The symptoms of difficulty in falling asleep,easy waking,dreaminess,fa-tigue and back pain were significantly improved in both groups(P＜0.05).The symptoms of difficulty in sleeping,easy waking,dreaminess,fatigue and lumbago were significantly improved in both groups(P＜0.05),and the symptom scores of the observation group were significantly lower than those of the control group(P＜0.05).Conclusion Wuling Capsule has good therapeutic effects on patients with insomnia of heart blood deficiency and kidney essence deficiency type,and can improve patients'sleep quality and clinical symptoms with high safety.It is worthy of clinical application.
