The Conflagration in Qingyuan Fu City in Southern Song Dynasty Reflected on The Map of Two Lakes in Qingyuan Fu City
the Map of Two Lakes in Qingyuan Fu City(《庆元府城内大小二湖丈尺图》)included in the Jing Zhi Lu(敬止录)from the hand-copied edition of Xiaoyin Villa(小隐山庄),collected by Tianyi Pavilion Museum,is a map of urban water area from Song dynasty that previously not received scholarly attention. In August 1220,a conflagration occurred in the southeast part of Qingyuan Fu city(now Ningbo,Zhejiang Province). In order to delineate the city's water boundaries and ensure access to drinking and firefighting of urban residents, this map was drawn under the command of the magistrate Yu Jian(俞建)in the following year. This map details the areas surrounding the Sun Lake(日湖)and the Moon Lake(月湖),which were inhabited by national political dignitaries from Qingyuan Fu during the Jiading(嘉定)period, and records the re-shrinking of the lake area during the Song Dynasty. This map, along with the map of Luocheng(罗城)attached to the Records of Si Ming in Baoqing period(宝庆《四明志》),both depict Qingyuan Fu during the Southern Song dynasty after the fire, which are of great historical value.
