A Study of the'Handan County'and'Linming County'Sections in the Book of Sui:Geography Treatise
The discovery of the Tomb Inscription of Dou Fenggao(《窦奉高墓志》)unearthed in Cixian County in 2010 provides evidence for the establishment of governance in Handan County during the Eastern Wei and Northern Qi Dynasty, and indicating discrepancies in the records of'Handan County'(邯郸县)and'Linming County'(临洺县)in the Book of Sui:Geography Treatise,Yuanhe Counties and Prefectures Graphical Records and Taiping Huanyu Ji.Starting from the establishment of the administrative center in Handan County during the Eastern Wei Dynasty and Northern Qi Dynasty, based on the comprehensive records of the Three Annals, and referring relevant descriptions in the Book of Wei and the Book of Northern Qi,the abandonment and establishment of Handan,Zhixiang,Yiyang, and Linming counties from the Eastern Wei Dynasty to the early Sui Dynasty needs to be reinterpreted.
