Study of Earthworm as a Potential Sewage Sludge Disposal Source
Sludge contains not only essential plant nutrients , such as nitrogen , phosphorus , potassium , organic matter ,but also includes a lot of heavy metals such as Cd ,Hg ,As ,Zn ,Cu ,Pb ,etc .,as well as organic pathogens and harmful ingredients . Using vermicomposting to treat sludge can reduce secondary pollution of sludge to the environment ,and make it possible to achieve the stabilization ,reduction and harmless of the sludge .Therefore ,this article discusses the selection of earthworm species , grow th and reproduction conditions of earthworm and the influence of temperature on earthworm in the process of the sludge treatment ,analyses the effects on nutrients and physicochemical properties of the sludge after treatment ,and discusses earthworm's absorption and accumulation of heavy metals .
