Resourcesand Synecological Characteristics of Walnut in Tibet
Walnut is an ancient wood in Tibet .Through the combination of our field survey and basis dataprovided by local forestry bureau ,we studied the resources and synecological characteristics of walnut in Tibet .The results showed that the area of walnut could be distributed into Brahmaputra RiverBasin ,Nu River Basinand Lancang River Basin .There were20185 strains ofwalnut treesof more than 100 years ,203431strainsof fruit - bearing treesof less than 100 years ,119720 acres of young trees and 5553 .42t of annual walnut .The walnut communities in Tibet could be divided in‐towild communities ,native communities and the introductingspecies communities .The results would provide reference for accelerating the development of walnut industryand cultivation of new varietiesin Tibet ,as well as for Tibet Autono‐mous Region government to carry outthe planning ofwalnut industryduring "Twelfth Five - Year Plan" .
