Effects of Shading on Root Traits of Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.Seedlings
In order to study the effect of shade on the root growth of the perennial Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.variety'Fengdan',this experiment used the Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.variety'Fengdan'as the material, and set up five different degrees of shade treatments:no shade(CK),85%of the light transmission rate of full light(Z1),70%(Z2),55%(Z3)and 40%(Z4),The total root length, total root surface area, soluble protein content, soluble sugar content, malondialdehyde(MDA)content and peroxidase(POD)activity of the Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.root system under different treatments are analyzed. The results showed that with the increase of shading intensity, the total root length and peroxidase activity of'Fengdan'Paeonia suffruticosa Andr.seedlings showed a gradual decrease. The total surface area, soluble sugar content and soluble protein content of the root system showed a tendency of increasing and then decreasing, and the malondialdehyde content of the root system showed a tendency of decreasing and then increasing. The total surface area and soluble sugar content of the root system of the Z1 treatment were significantly higher than that of the control, and the malondialdehyde content of the root system of the Z1 treatment was significantly lower than that of the other treatments. When the light transmittance was 50%~65%of the total light,it was favorable for the root system to maintain a high soluble protein content. In summary, the light shade treatment with light transmittance of 85%of full light under the conditions of this experiment was favorable for the root system of'Fengdan'seedlings to maintain good physiological activity, while light transmittance ≥55%significantly inhibited the growth and development of peony root system.
