Impact of Digital Economy on Urban Carbon Emissions in the Yangtze River Economic Belt
This paper analyzes the impact of digital economic development on carbon emissions in 108 prefecture-level cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.Using a mediation effects model,it studies the transmission mechanism of the impact of the digital economy on urban carbon emissions in the Yangtze River Economic Belt.It also utilizes a threshold effect model to explore the non-linear relationship between digital economic development and carbon emissions. The results show that digital economic development can reduce carbon emissions in cities in the Yangtze River Economic Belt, with green technological innovation and industrial structure upgrading being important mechanisms. There is a U-shaped non-linear relationship between digital economic development in the Yangtze River Economic Belt and carbon emissions, with an increase in carbon emissions when the level of digital economic development is below 0.0991 and a decrease when it is above 0.0991.The research also indicates that the impact of the digital economy on carbon emissions in the Yangtze River Economic Belt is regionally heterogeneous and plays a role in carbon reduction in downstream areas and central cities. Therefore,it is necessary to formulate development strategies for the digital economy tailored to local conditions. The development of the digital economy in the Yangtze River Economic Belt should be expedited.Industrial upgrades and green innovation is led through the development of the digital economy, and the carbon emission reduction effects of the digital economy is fully harnessed.
