Spatial-Temporal Evolution of Precipitation Concentration in the Loess Plateau During the Recent 30 Years
This paper analyzes the precipitation data from 58 meteorological stations in the Loess Plateau region o-ver the past 30 years, and focuses on the characteristics of annual precipitation, precipitation concentration degree(PCD),and concentration period(PCP).The following conclusions are drawn:① The annual average precipitation ranges from 50 to 900 mm in the Loess Pateau, with a spatial distribution of higher values in the southeast and lower values in the northwest. The high-value areas are located in Sanmenxia and Wugong stations,as well as Wutaishan station, with an annual average precipitation of about 900 mm.The low-value areas are in Linhe station, with an annual average precipitation of around 50 mm.② The precipitation concentration degrees in the Loess Plateau range from 0.43 to 0.76,and increases from southeast to northwest. The variation of the concentration peri-od is not very pronounced, and mostly concentrates in July and August of summer. Therefore, soil erosion is more likely to intensify during the concentrated precipitation in July and August. It is essential to strengthen soil ero-sion control projects and disaster prevention measures during these months of summer, and provide early warnings for agricultural industrial production to minimize production reduction and economic losses.
