Taking the four famous gardens in Lingnan(Qinghuiyuan,Yuyinshanfang,Liangyuan and Keyuan)as the research object,this paper applies the Munsell international standard colour system to collect colour data from the vertical interface,the horizontal interface and the characteristic elements of the gardens,and conducts research on the characteristics of their colour landscape.The study found that:① On the vertical interface,the four famous gardens of Lingnan show the medium brightness without colour grey and medium-high brightness,medium-low colour yellow-green as the theme colour,with medium brightness,medium-low colour red and low brightness,very low colour red-yellow,presenting a"calm and elegant"colour landscape characteristics;② the horizontal in-terface as a whole presents a"yellow-green-red-yellow-grey"colour sequence,presenting a"low-key elegant"col-our style;③ Garden characteristic elements of the colour as an embellishment,has the characteristic of"bright"and plays an active role in garden atmosphere.On this basis,a conservation strategy is proposed,emphasizing the preservation of historical lineage,encouraging community participation,promoting the application of modern technology,and facilitating the organic integration of traditional and modern colours,with a view to providing a reference for the inheritance and development of the colour lineage of Lingnan gardens,and to providing a certain degree of cultural support for the shaping of the city's colour characteristics.
